Working titel: The hidden costs of company relocations due to breaches of implicit psychological work contracts

Short Description: Relocations, in terms of outsourcing to a non-affiliated company and off-shoring, the cross-border relocation within the company are widely used in recent years and causes in many cases collective employee layoffs. Although the primary objective is to reduce costs, relocations may not produce those highly anticipated financial benefits that most companies are pursuing. One reason is that organizations often overlooked and underestimated social or hidden consequences of relocations (e.g. workplace sabotage, employee theft, survivor guilt and so on). Crucial to this evaluation are the aspects of justice or fairness and trust. While there is considerable research in general downsizing and layoffs, little empirical research has been focused upon those people affected from relocations. To realize the project a relatively new adaptive link-tracing sampling method termed respondent-driven sampling (RDS) will be used to sample employees affected by relocations.
